I could've rewatched Bad Boys 2 fifty times trying to guess what was CG in that scene and I might not have gotten it correct. That was very well done by today's standards, let alone 2003. That's the difference between Michael Bay over-the-top and a copycat Michael Bay over-the-top. Ridiculous.

In 'Beneath the Planet of the Apes' (1970), I'm pretty sure they added a "smoke" effect over one of the shots. I just can't figure out how or why. They had a smoke machine in the previous shot. At 01:32:07ish, Zaius and Ursus go to the altar to try to stop the bomb. There is some smoke in the shot, but as the camera follows Zaius bending down, the smoke keeps its position relative to the frame, so I think the smoke was added in. Also, it's translucent. HOW?! I think it be cool to talk about Book of Eli. The whole flick has a lot of great moments but I love a scene at about an hour and 20 in when the bad guys bust out the Gatling gun from the back of their truck. One long take pretty sure it’s all one shot going from the house to the gun and spinning back around.

You guys should check out The Signal 2014. Solid movie all around and seems to balance CG versus practical really well. Also fairly low budget especially by today's standards.
