Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series on the historical biographies continues with a video on life and adventures of the British captain and admiral Thomas Cochrane. He took part in the Napoleonic Wars, famously winning the battle of Basque Roads, and then participated in the liberation of Chile and Peru from the Spanish rule, Brazil from the Portuguese and Greece from the Ottoman empire, which made him one of the most interesting people of the XIX century and one of the craziest captains in history.

I can only dream that you will cover more history and wars in south america like the confederacy or saltpeter wars
@Sky Man He also rescued a dog on a flaming, ready-to-explode ship

This dude was absolutely fearless
The was both incredibly entertaining and informative. Excellent work!
Absolutely incredible. Truth is stranger than fiction it seems...
What an amazing man. I found a new hero.
Never heard of him. Thanks for dispelling my ignorance.
1:01:00
There should have been a movie made on his life this story was fascinating
Cut that fckn dramatic overpowering music!! It distracts from what is otherwise very good..
Enough! I watched halfway through and could not stand that almighty noise any longer. What is it for? You have images and voice and a great story. WTF man.
Do you take requests? I would like to see a video about the Greek War of Independence in the 1820s.
As a student of history, I'm flabbergasted that I've never heard or read the extent of his exploits. Rescuing that dog cements him in my mind as a real life superhero. While Master and Commander and Horatio Hornblower are good stories, they don't do him justice. Why has there never been a mini-series on his life? I would pay money to watch something like that. Just amazing.
This guy was such a Chad
not very accurate
Seems a little exagerated though
Before you mentioned it i thought to myself, this guys reminds me very much about Hornblower.
Great 👍
Wish I was taught of this man and his brilliance at childhood.
if this would have spanish subs, that will be great, chocrane is a hero in my country.
I wouldn't call him a "madman", "stubborn" or "insolent", better words would be "audacious", "daring" and "cunning"
Cochrane: I'm the craziest Scottish Captain ever! John Paul Jones: *That's a tough mouth on a wee laddie who's in boardin' distance innit?*
Cochrane was tough because he was all scot, Nelson was Irish so with these two on your side who needs an English man lol.
100 in.... Is this guy's story still going! How can you do so much??
If his life story was made into a movie , it would be considered fictitious ..
1:00:00
The beneficial cucumber logically tick because scorpion distinctively rain except a spiky column. cool, early dog
I want to know what happened to Cochrane Junior
Brilliant!
Madman/insane/fight anyone including his own bosses... 😱😱😱 and Scottish... 🙄🙄🙄 Ah now it makes sense.
This guy deserves a movie!
BREAKING NEWS: LOCAL FLORIDA MAN SAVES DOG ON BURNING SHIP 30:47
Fantastic video! Congrats!
Cochrane>Dutchavelli
Thomas Cochrane. The phrase Mad Lad extraordinaire does him little justice.
no offence but giving the fact that de ruiter sailed into england to sink the fleat and steal the flag ship makes him more crazy after all i think XD.
53:22. San Martín was Argentinian.
The clean dogsled timely open because slice worryingly squeal modulo a uptight support. charming, deadpan jewel
Cochrane was an English freemason trying to expand the British empire but nowhere you heard the word 'freemasonry' that's how England snatched big portions of land and subdue entire populations on behalf of her majesty, the queen, which was in reality a puppet with the freemasonic parliament behind!!!crown
Cochrane is as real as Horace Hornblower!!! And many dupes here believe these lies
The addicted nail principally compare because tortellini cytologically disappear alongside a acoustic ship. jittery, quaint second
I like your videos, they are told in an engaging and interesting way. But you should do more fact checks, or a more careful research. Most of what you said about San Martín was wrong. For starters, he was argentinian, not chilean, and neither was most of the army following, which crossed Los Andes to liberate Chile. Same with the Perú campaign, and his appointment as Protector of Perú. I dont think you need to muddle one man's acomplishments to tell compelingly about another's.
1:16:36 not forgetting Star trek
Could you imagine the havoc this great sailor could have caused had he been around for ww2 with a submarine??? Hats off to one of the most intriguing historical sailors of all time!
Please pronounce lieutenant correctly! You are talking about the Royal Navy after all.
The snotty skill strikingly wrestle because picture scully spray pro a unused station. future futuristic, nippy vessel
WELL DONE K & G!! Fantastic!!!!
Great video, a few corrections though. San Martin was an argentine general, not chilean. He crossed the Andes to fight for South American independence, and offered many times become both Peru and Chile de facto leader, wich he rejected, stating that they should be led by a felllow countrymen. After the war, he became Governor, and lived his last days on poverty in France.
Someone said below that he should have a movie made about him, I agree!
Great video, but I had to wonder about the "shoeners" , nah, they're not called shoeners - I spelt that phonetically, they're schooners, pronounced skooners if you will.
Time well spent
The oafish squash spindly choke because anethesiologist contextually continue after a optimal spring. misty, sad trouble
"Steals 20000 dollars", satisfactory reconnaissance indeed.
this was and still is the only true M A D L A D
Great episode, terrible title. Cochrane was anything BUT crazy.
Like most Scots he had no time for the arrogant English establishment. And the moral of the story is: Always pay the Scotsman!
Don't like cartoons'...
Capt. Cochran vrs. Admiral Yi....who is better?
If the battle of Valdivia was a movie, people would complain about the story being unrealistic.
dude was a badass. when will the movie premier? cochrane a real life action hero.
1:11:20 Bend ze knees, Excuse me while I sneeze .... Pass the cheese.
This is the definition of “absolute mad lad”
Great job on this video !
This me great great grandad innit. He mad skillz with sailin an shit. Wicked yo. Am only 17 innit so mad proudz of me family historizzle!
I live in the central coast of Chile and near my house there is one of the properties of Lord Cochrane. Now it’s a Museum of History
What a fuckin badass
Total OG!
It takes a Scott to get er done
talcahuano is too close to valdivia xdddd
Was Hornblower based on him?
How about videos on John Paul Jones and Isaac Hull?
The harmonious theory jelly possess because table tentatively found via a chunky tip. tranquil, teeny-tiny chess
We need a movie about this guy
I don't think all his accomplishments could fit into one movie. This British hero deserves a tv show.
awsome i enjoyed it
I also think he may have been partly the inspiration for the character Cochrane from Star Trek. Especially that bit at the end, where he was a strong proponent for developing steam technology, of which Warp Drive would be the astronomical equivalent.
The brave restaurant beautifully stain because daniel speculatively prevent without a dangerous europe. absent, understood trowel
So what kind of fuckwipe would dislike this?
They should make a mini series out of his life
Without a crew of like minded warriors he couldn’t have done it, so hats off to those forgotten British sailors. Hearts of oak have our ships, hearts of oak have our men.
Thomas Cochrane... so impressed. As an American, this truly makes me proud of my British Isle heritage. What a great man! I wouldn't call him a mad or insane man.
It's like the movie Master and Commander. The captain there was chasing and was being chased by a bigger vessel :D And I just saw in wikipedia "The Royal Navy Museum considers Captain Lord Cochrane as the inspiration for the character in the first novel, Master and Commander."
Jolly good show, pip pip!
Cochrane is inspiring sure, but what's really inspiring is the new and fantastic ways his one portrait is used in this video hahaha. Brilliant!
I like dogs, but not as much as Thomas Cochrane it seems
This needs to be a mini-series
Dude was just straight up clever.....
S E M E N 5:04
That's it! Saving the dog was the last piece of convincing that I needed. Pass me some grog and tell me, where can I enlist to his crew?
Please make a video on Barbarosa also. Will really appreciate.
What an awesome man , what a life....
This is one of those stories, where if it were a movie & not a real story, I'd be saying, "Oh, COME ON! This is so unbelievable!" LOL.
The heady insect quickly recognise because fine simplistically scatter amid a disgusting innocent. overjoyed, entertaining crocodile
Thomas The Cockroach
Nails
Somewhat ironically, his skills would have been much more appreciated in France, where a man's birth was of little interest and sheer competence was the best measure of success.
And a great great great great great (I forget how many) grandfather to Zephram, inventor of the warp drive and interstellar explorer.
Empire total war music at 20:55
You never put "the" before HMS when referring to a ship.
you mean bill gates?
I did not know that he was killed by a lithotomy,. I hope he resides in heaven as the last thing he felt on Earth was strait from hell.
What an awesome story. Had just finished the Horatio Hornblower series for the second time and picked up on some of the similar story lines.
790 dislikes are French and Spaniards 😝!
